Why Me!

If you are anything like us, then you have experienced the "why me" moment. This is the time when you face those same trials and tribulations that many Christian have. It's that time in life where a person has turned their back on you or has tried to take an act of kindness and pervert it for their own selfish desires. Often times this could be a person you are friends with, a family member, or just someone you tried to help (whether they were a Christian or not). So why does God allow this to happen to His people? Well, if you think about it, people often attempted to pervert the good deeds of Jesus. We believe that God allows certain things to happen, let it look so bad in the natural, so that He can show up and show out. So, in the end, when you come out victoriously, people know that there is no other way that you got out of the situation but through God.

This time of trial and tribulation that we experience is not easy. Often times it may seem like the devil is winning. When our family is under attack, there are a few scriptures that we like to turn to, as a reminder that we are not alone in the fight. They remind us that it is all part of God’s plan and we already have the victory. Here a few scriptures to remember during these times:

  1. Romans 8:28 -  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
  2. Romans 8: 31- What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
  3. Romans 8: 37-39- Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
  4. Isaiah 54: 17 -  No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.
  5. Isaiah 59: 19- So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.
  6. 1Peter 4: 12-13 - Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
  7. Read Psalms 91

My Testimony

About two weeks ago I was the happiest man alive. I had just bought a new car! It was Friday afternoon. My brother Michael and my father rode with me pick up my new 2011 Volkswagen Jetta. Now, a lot of you may be thinking this is wonderful news but you'll soon find out how my day turned out. I'm in my new car and I'm about to pull out the parking lot, Michael quickly hops in the passenger seat, buckles up and begins to admire some of the features on the dash. I pull out of the dealership, making a right onto Memorial Drive. At the first light I make a left onto South Harrison Rd. We begin traveling down South Harrison Rd and continue for about ten minutes. In the distance I can see a white car in the left turning lane traveling the opposite direction on South Harrison, but I don't think anything of it. The light is green and I'm in the right hand lane cruising and happy about my new car. As I begin to cross Redan Rd, the white car pulls right in front of me causing us to run directly into them. The air bags immediately deploy we are spinning and can't see a thing. As the car comes to a halt, my head slightly bumps the air bag knocking my glasses on the floor and my hat near the back seat. I was in a complete daze. I unhooked my seat belt and looked over to my right to see Michael was ok. He wasn't there. I was worried because I thought he might have been hurt. I slowly work my way out of the car. I was holding on the door to keep myself from falling. I didn't have my glasses on and I was still in a daze so, everything was blurry. My hand slips and I loose my balance. A guy comes out of nowhere and helps me to keep my balance. He asked me if I was ok and the other party if they were ok. By the time I reached in the car to grab my glasses off of the floor and turn to thank him he was gone. I don't what he looks like where he came from or his name. I thought to myself, it had to be The Lord watching over my brother and I. I looked over and saw my brother standing on the other side of the car. He was fine no major injuries. His side was a little sore from the seat belt and he had a few small cuts on his knee. I only had a small headache. My father was walking toward us from a near by parking lot. He saw the whole thing from behind us. Both cars were totaled. We were all blessed to be alive. It is important to pray for Gods protection over you, your family, and love ones before you start your day. There is power in the name of Jesus. Remember Amayz and Jesus love you and God is truly amazing!Share your testimony; you never know who it could be!

Take the Extra Step

Have you ever found yourself in the position where you’re in desperate need of help; whether it be financial, physical, or emotional? Who hasn’t right?.... So what’s the first thing you do? Turn to God, pray, turn to a friend, a family member, pastor, or try to make it on your own. We know as Christians, that we first pray and turn it over to God. But what happens when you seek help from others? Have you ever been told, “I’ll pray for you.”, or “God will bless you.” Well obviously we believe God will bless us. But how?...
Now image the shoe on the other foot; someone comes to you asking for help. Do you pray with them and send them on their way? Or do you pray with them, and then ask God what you can do to be a blessing to that person? Many times we may find ourselves in this position, but may not want to go out of our way. After all, we have our own problems to deal with, someone else will do it, right…….? Maybe, maybe not. So what does the Bible say about this situation? James 2:14-17 (KJV) talks specifically about this situation.

“14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”

This scripture tells us that being a Christian is more than just having faith; we must show our faith through our works. Verses 15 and 16 gave the example of a person in need of clothes and food, and ask how that person would benefit from words of encouragement alone. Understand that you’re not going to be able to save the world but, when the opportunity to be a blessing presents itself, take it. God rewards us for the good that we do and He blesses us in order for us to be a blessing to others.

Introduction

Yeah, we are a gospel group, but we are also real people in the real world. We run into the same issues that you may face in everyday life.  Everyday is not all smiles and hugs and kisses; some days we have to really fight to maintain our Christian values. We know that we are not the only ones who have to face this truth, so…. that’s where this Blog comes in. Here we discuss some of the issues in life, and how we face them as Christians. What does the Bible say? What would Jesus do? Feel free to add comments and topic suggestions.
